Indian Saris

Saris are the traditional Indian silk garment that women wear draped around their
bodies. The sari is thought of as the oldest Indian traditional garment and has a
strong history. Ellies and Ivy want to treasure this amazing piece of garment.

Saris are the traditional Indian silk garment that women wear draped around their
bodies. A sari is completely unstitched and usually around 5 meters long and 1
meter wide. The sari is thought of as the oldest Indian traditional garment and has
a strong history in Indian traditions.

In ancient times the saris colors and designs had major importance and
symbolism attached to it. Each pattern, color and detail on the sari could
represent the region the women came from or her beliefs. The color especially has
always had a specific symbolism behind it, for example a red sari is used as a
symbol for courage and similarly each color is used as a representation of the
woman’s caste, culture or beliefs.

"
We want our customers to choose the
silk print they believe are an extension of
their individual personality - just as
the sari used to be a visual reflection of the
woman wearing it.

"

We are combing the Indian traditional textile with western design and aesthetics.
The personal feature each sari has, is what we want to give our customers
through our styles. Therefore each of our silk styles are unique and there is often a
very limited number or simply just one of each print combinations.

We want our customers to choose the silk print they believe are an extension of
their individual personality - just as the sari used to be a visual reflection of the
woman wearing it. In our world with fast fashion and mass production it is not
always easy to stand out or truly show your personality through clothes and
accessories. We want to give women that opportunity.
We are combining high quality, attention to details and western design with
ancient Indian textiles. At Ellies and Ivy we see the major possibilities in textiles
that already exist. Of course due to the sustainable aspect of recycling fabrics that
already have been made and thereby avoid a new textile production, but also
because of the unique historical features of saris.

For us saris are the epitome of unique style and quality and we want to give all
women the opportunity to feel showered in luxury whenever they wear one of our
styles.
